What Tidemark does
For shoppers, job seekers, researchers, buyers and anyone waiting for a page to change.
- Watches a whole page, or the exact part you click with the element picker, so menus and ads do not trigger alerts.
- Sends a desktop notification when it changes, and highlights the removed and added words.
- Checks every 30 minutes or more with Free, and as often as every minute with Pro.
- Shows for every page when it was checked, when the next check is, and what to do if a check fails.
- Runs checks while Chrome is open; checks missed while it was closed run shortly after it starts.
What stays on your device
- Pages are checked by your own browser. There is no Tidemark account or server in between.
- The pages you watch and their text stay in Chrome, on this device.
- Tidemark asks for access to one site at a time, when you save a page to watch on it, and gives it up when you stop watching that site.
- With Pro, license checks send your license key and a random installation id. Never the pages you watch. Pro keeps working offline for up to 30 days after the last check.

What Tidemark asks Chrome for, and why.
- At install
- Chrome shows “Display notifications”. No access to your websites.
- Site access, optional
- When you save a page to watch, Chrome asks for access to that site only, so Tidemark can check it.
- notifications
- Tells you when a watched page changes. You can turn it off; the icon still counts changes.
- alarms
- Schedules each page’s next check and re-checks a Pro license.
- offscreen
- Reads downloaded pages in the background; their scripts never run.
- activeTab
- Reads the current tab’s address and title when you click the icon, to offer “Watch this page”.
- scripting
- Shows the element picker on the page, only when you click “Pick on the page”.
- storage
- Saves your watched pages, their last text, the change history and settings on this device.

Tidemark reads pages as the website sends them: content that only appears after the page’s scripts run may not be visible to it.
