How do I install Calque?

Open Calque's page on the Chrome Web Store, click Add to Chrome and confirm. To keep the icon in view, open the Extensions menu (the puzzle piece in Chrome's toolbar) and pin Calque. You can also open it on any page with Alt+Shift+C. Calque asks for no access to your websites at install.

How do I get the tokens of a website?

Open the site and click the Calque icon in the toolbar (or press Alt+Shift+C). The side panel opens and scans the page. Browse the tabs: Colors, Type, Spacing, Shapes (radii and shadows) and Export.

The panel says "Click the Calque icon to scan this tab".

Chrome lets an extension read a tab only after you click its icon, and only until that tab moves to another site. If you switched tabs or went to another site, click the Calque icon again. If you are scanning several pages of the same site in different tabs, you can choose Allow on <site>: Calque may then scan that site from the panel without the icon (it still reads a page only when you click Scan this page). You can remove that access in Settings → Site access.

"Chrome doesn't let extensions read this page."

Chrome blocks every extension on chrome:// pages, the Chrome Web Store and some built-in viewers (like the PDF viewer). Try a regular website.

How can I scan a local HTML file?

Go to chrome://extensions, open Calque's details, turn on "Allow access to file URLs", then click the Calque icon on the file.

Where do the names (primary, text, surface…) come from?

They are suggestions based on where each colour is used: the page background, text, buttons and links, borders, and so on. When the site declares its own CSS variables (like --color-brand), Calque recognizes them and reuses their names where they fit. Open any token and use Token name to rename it; Calque remembers your names for that site.

Two colours I expected are merged into one.

Calque merges colours that look the same to the eye. Settings → Merge similar colors: choose Precise to keep near-identical values apart, or Loose for fewer, broader colours. Merged values are listed under the token ("Merged variants").

Some CSS variables are missing.

Browsers don't let pages (or extensions) read stylesheets loaded from another domain (a CDN) unless that server allows it. Calque tells you how many stylesheets it couldn't read. The colours, fonts and sizes the page actually renders are still extracted.

Why does a type specimen use a different font?

Specimens use the fonts installed on your computer. Calque never downloads a site's fonts; the exported font stack is exactly the page's.

Which export should I use?

CSS variables (free) work everywhere. Pro adds: Tailwind v4 (@theme block, paste below @import "tailwindcss"), Design Tokens JSON (W3C DTCG, for Style Dictionary or Tokens Studio), SCSS, Figma variables (in Figma: Local variables → open a collection → right-click a mode → Import mode), and DESIGN.md (put it at the root of your project so AI coding agents follow the site's palette, type and spacing).

How do I combine several pages (Pro)?

Scan a page, click Combine pages, then browse to other pages of the same site, click Scan again and Add this page. Switch between "This page" and "Site" at any time.

How much does Calque Pro cost?

$39 including any VAT or sales tax, paid once (a one-time purchase: nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel), or $5.99 a month as a monthly subscription you can cancel anytime. One license gives one person Calque Pro and all its updates, on up to 3 Chrome installations at the same time, with either offer; a one-time purchase covers them for as long as we distribute Calque. No paid major versions are planned. Free users can try one Pro export per day before buying.

How does the monthly subscription work, and how do I cancel it?

Calque Pro is also sold as a monthly subscription: $5.99 a month, including any VAT or sales tax, with no commitment and no free trial. It renews every month until you cancel it. To cancel, open Settings → License → Manage billing (the Lemon Squeezy customer portal; the same link is in your receipt e-mail and on the Support page of our website, and it stays there even when Pro is not active in this browser) and cancel the subscription there; the portal also changes your payment method and has your invoices. Pro stays on until the end of the month you already paid for; after that, Calque works as its free version, and you can buy Pro again at any time. Removing the extension does not cancel the subscription. Monthly payments are not refunded (except when an update removes a Pro feature: see section 6 of the terms of sale), but the 14-day money-back guarantee covers your first purchase of Calque Pro, one-time or monthly. The one-time purchase costs the same as six and a half months of the subscription.

How do I buy Pro?

Click Upgrade to Pro on a Pro feature, or open Settings → Calque Pro, then pay on the checkout page that opens in a new tab. Calque Pro is sold through our merchant of record, Lemon Squeezy; Calque itself never asks for payment details.

How do I activate Pro?

After purchase you receive a license key by email. Open Settings → License, paste the key, click Activate. You can activate the same key on up to 3 Chrome installations at the same time (each Chrome profile where you activate it counts as one). Pro checks your license online about once a day and keeps working offline for up to 30 days after the last successful check; after that, Pro features pause until Calque can check your license again.

How do I move Pro to another browser or computer?

On the browser you no longer use, open Settings → License and click Remove license from this browser, then activate the key on the new one. If you can no longer open the old browser, write to us from the Support page and we will remove the old activation.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. Ask within 14 days of your first purchase of Calque Pro and you are refunded in full, without giving a reason (see the terms of sale). Use the link in your receipt email, or write to us. A refunded license no longer unlocks Pro. For a monthly subscription, the 14 days count from your first payment; later monthly payments are not refunded (except when an update removes a Pro feature: see section 6 of the terms of sale), but you can cancel at any time so that the next one is not taken.

Does Calque send my data anywhere?

No. Pages are read and processed in your browser. The only network requests are license checks (license key + a random installation id). Scan history and site sets (Pro) are stored only in this browser; Settings → Saved data lets you delete them.

How do I uninstall Calque?

If you have Pro, first open Settings → License and click Remove license from this browser, so this installation no longer counts toward your 3. Then go to chrome://extensions and click Remove on Calque (or right-click the Calque icon → Remove from Chrome). Uninstalling deletes everything Calque kept in this browser: settings, token names, scan history, site sets and the license key, and Chrome withdraws any site access you allowed. Calque keeps no copy of your scans anywhere else.
